BEST PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP IN THE GALAXY! EVERRRRRRR!!
Jul 3, 2014 | By: ingrid bonne
So I have been wanting to take Cliff Mautner's workshop since early 2010. It sells out pretty fast, and I'm slow, so I've missed many chances. Last November I saw that registration was open for the following year's spring session, and I jumped! I was nervous and excited and not sure what to expect. The workshop, and Cliff himself, exceeded every expectation I had been building for years.
The humble legend. Cliff's work speaks volumes. But there are many talented photographers in the world. It's Cliff, the person, that impressed me most. Kind, generous, full of wit, he shared valuable information sprinkled with hilarious goofiness and some curse words to keep us ever-entertained! He stood in front of us with a naked soul, so we could see his imperfections and flaws and learn from them. What icon allows this? Cliff is a photographic genius, a legend in this industry and a celebrity, and yet drank beer and ate bacon with us "common folk" - those are MY words, not his. In fact, he feels the opposite. He thanked each and every one of us multiple times for being there and for taking time out of our lives to spend with him.
He used to be one of my favorite wedding photographers, and now he's one of my favorite people.
And words cannot describe the value of what I learned. I'm no longer afraid to photograph in direct sunlight. I've learned tips and tricks that can assist me in some rather testy situations, and my confidence level has climbed a mountain. I've connected with some insanely talented photographers and cultivated relationships from across the globe that surely enrich my own life, personally and professionally.
I can go on and on about Cliff Mautner's Lighting and Skillset Bootcamp and how much I loved it and didn't want it to end. But the internet does not have enough pages.
Thank you, Cliff, for giving me the tools and inspiration to up my game. This season is off to a fireworks start!!
